For us on cadence folks, do we currently have any working method to make a change to an existing SSRS report?
I have tickets for 3 customers in the pipeline - no solutions are being offered or promised. We are back to the ZIP Export/Import - which is a nightmare for me - especially trying to do Labels.

I was under the impression even the zip/export/import didnât work. It doesnât seem to in Pilot (2025.2.4). No errors it just doesnât seem to actually update the rdl when you upload your edited version.

So far i have been able to stitch together different options to get it to work. Try Classi, Kinetic, download/upload Zip, âDesign SSRS Reportâ manual copy from local cache, Duplicate report style to new location, Etc. I have not âfailedâ yet - but you have to be creative about how upload.
Sorry, that is the best I can do. The silver lining (for me at least) is I can get it to work.
Iâve found itâs OK to talk about everything! Complaining isnât the issue, itâs when nothing more is being added to the conversation and weâre just beating a dead horse, thatâs when a thread is generally closed. Threads are rarely removed unless there are issues of protecting IP, personal attacks, active selling, etc.
Sounds like the short answer is no.
I havenât experienced any of the issues folks are referring to here, the .zip download/upload works perfectly for me. Hereâs how I do it, not sure if others are doing it differently:
- Navigate to the report style and click the three dots â Download SSRS Report
- Rename the downloaded .zip file descriptively, like âPO Update.zipâ for example
- Extract the .zip file
- Open the extracted folder and navigate to the .rdl you want to change
- Make your changes
- Return to the first level of the extracted folder that just has the âreportsâ folder in it
- Zip the âreportsâ folder and use Upload SSRS Report to upload reports.zip
I have this hypothesis that if you started in cloud on an early version, say 2021 or 2022, these problems crop up. @DaveOlender you consult for various companies right? Are you seeing the same amount of problems with SSRS for the newer customers as you are the older ones?
We started on 2024.1 FWIW.
Good to know. Thatâs what I am trying to ascertain, like is it because of upgrades that itâs breaking or if you create a brand new report on the new version is the change process working just fine?
Mr. @utaylor - interesting question - Have not noticed that new or old makes any difference I have a customer that is not even Live yet and they are having SSRS and Kinetic App issues that are taxing our patience.
Another customer went live 2014 and they have been solid - minus the typical occasional interruption (expected).
That said my 2014 customer has an open ticket in Pilot where i am unable to copy the standard Pack Slip RDD to a new name without it failing. We are stressing about this since the Pack Slip is a âCriticalâ document to do business.

2014 customer like they became your customer in 2014? or did you mean to type 2024 (version)?
But thatâs my question, yes youâre copying a base report, but were they live in a previous version when that report style/rdl was originally created in 2021.1 or whatever.
Thanks for the walkthrough, but this does not work for me.
I get no error, everything âworksâ but printing the report style results in the unmodified version, my changes arenât reflected.
Mr. @utah - sorry for the confusion - The reports they are running were created in 2014 - no typo. I see what you are saying and yes these are OLD reports that have run consistently for years.
Thatâs just something Iâm observing on these threads. The people having issues with SSRS are people that have been in Kinetic Cloud for some years or started on a previous version. I donât see many new people who are saying that they are having any issues.
People who just got on cloud canât come up for air long enough to think about modifying an SSRS report until about month 6.
I must be out of the loop, what exactly is occurring? I havenât noticed any changes. I still use the classic screen to download the reports from the report style. Make any changes and reupload.
I just tested and this method still works fine. This is on a custom BAQ report.
