[OT] BackupExec - Restored File Access denied

Thanks. Earlier Dan Shallbetter sent me an off-list message suggesting that on the restore in the "General" settings I turn off the check mark for saving security settings. This did the trick and the file is back where it belongs.

Todd,

Check the Security on the file as well as its Attributes as soon as you restore it. If it is set at Full Access for everyone, change it to Read-Only or take off Everybody's access and only give yourself/Administrator Full Access.

That might help.

I had to restore a critical CAD file this afternoon from last night's backup tape. It restores just fine but when I try to access it or move it to the correct location I get an "Access Denied" message which suggests lack of disk space (not) or the file is in use (nope). When I try to open it I get a message that it is in use by someone else but I know darned well it is not, unless there is some system process hanging on to it.

Is there anyway to determine what the system thinks is using it or force it to be released? I have tried copying it both in Explorer and in a DOS command box with no luck.

This is the first time I've ever had a problem restoring a file. I have restored the file three times now and all three are now locked up. Any ideas what is going on?

Thanks,
