OT- Running everything through Terminal services

No, Win 2003 looks and feels like XP for the users. The lic is Per Device for us, you can choose Per User if you like. Its important to decide before you purchase. Microsoft has some great Lic Model documents that are of great help.

I currently use TS for my home users. Works great. Does every user of
office need a license or just a license for the server with Cal's for the
users? Is there a big learning curve form W2K to 2003?

None at all. We run 1000GB on everything. We lic everything. It wasn't a
big deal for us since we where replacing PC's with Thin Clients we already
had the licensing for Office and other applications.
One other benefit is that you can setup TSWeb access very easily and people
can work from home. This comes in handy for accounting at the end of the
month or for people who want access to Outlook or their files.
Windows 2003 is much much better then Win2K.
Hope that helps,
Jeremy

Do you ever experience bottlenecks at the 1st company? Do you run 10/100 or
1000? Do you license all the users for TS Cals as well as applications or
just CAL's and once license for the Office apps on the server?

At one company, we have one very large server (HPNetserver 6000 with 6 Xeon
Processors and 8GB Ram) that runs everything (Vantage, Office, Misc Apps).
Normally this server only runs at 10% processor utilization.
At another company I work at we have Vantage running on a Terminal Server.
At this site, the users click on the Vantage icon and it opens a T.S./RDP
Connection and just runs Vantage.
Both setups run very well. We started with thin clients for a data
collections terminals and went from there. I can't say enough about the
time savings this produced. We removed 20 PC's from the factor floor at
once. It was worth the cost just to do that.

For the most part we do. There are a few exceptions. Engineering needs
high resolution displays for CAD/CAM and some of the users have SCSI
scanners connected to their PC's. Otherwise, everyone runs all applications
on a Terminal Server.

This may be way out there, but has anyone ever considered leaving all
your users as thin cliets and having them run all their applications
off of a terminal server. Benefit being one location, less
maintenance. Conversley, does anyone see an indications as to why
this might not be a good idea. Any input is most appreciated.

Do you have a bank of Terminal Services each running a different app or one
TS that allows user to connect to different apps through different servers?
