Paid Lunches

Yes, Caesar IS alive and well!
His products are excellent and we are very happy to provide on-site visits
to demo the products.
They have been very busy adding enhancements to their existing products and
coming up with some new ones as well.

The Data collection module has many more options than Epicor's and it
handles suspending jobs on the fly without clocking out the employee just
fine!
There are many more good features but I don't want to sound like a
billboard. :-)

As for the secret knock... you just need to call the right people!

We've tried to contact Caesar too, and not gotten a response, I'd like to
evaluate their products since I've heard so many good things about them.

I have left numerous voice mail message for Caesar development. No calls

Steve,

Did you get any kick backs for that inspirational ad. ;-)

I'll second what he says, we use it also and are very happy. Hi Mark!

Brian,

Caesar Development's Data Collection product has the ability to suspend work
on all jobs for one employee. We use this feature to handle lunch for
production workers. They get a 20 minute lunch while they are still on the
clock. The suspend feature is two button clicks (including an "Are you
sure" dialog box) and suspends time on all open jobs for that one employee.
When lunch is over, one button click starts the clock on all open jobs!

This also comes in handy if there are mechanical problems that prevent the
employee from working on the product; they simply suspend their time until
the machine is back up and ready for production.

I can't say enough good things about Caesar's Data Collection product! Very
reliable; great features; easy to use. Supports bar-code data entry; even
supports one barcode scan for the job number, assembly and sequence values!

You might want to ask others their opinion of the product before looking
closer, but my experiences have been nothing but positive! Of course,
coming from the world of TT-5 data collection and two years of wailing and
the gnashing of teeth, it was hard not to be thrilled with anything
different!!

Jon,

Thanks for your response. I am aware that breaks do not affect the
cost of the job, but we can not use the breaks without affecting
pay. There needs to be a way to establish breaks for the purpose of
job costing and efficiency reporting, without it affecting payroll
hours. A simple trigger for "Paid Lunches" would do the trick.
Right now the best option is for us to have employees punch out of
their jobs for lunch and break, but that is a big waste of time.
Another option is to have someone edit everyones time every week to
add back the break time, another big waste of time. Frankly, I'm
surprised this hasn't been a bigger issue for other shops. We must
be in the minority for paying lunches. It seems this option would be
available in such a widely used software package.

SOLUTION: Add flag to shift setup to say yes or no to paid lunch.
You may want to create a seperate operation for lunch and break, and charge

I don't know about the breaks set up in "Additional Breaks," but the period
set up on the shift for lunch is not added to the cost of the job. I should
tell you that we use Data Collection for labor, but I would think this would
be the case whether you use Data Collection or not.

Thad,

Thanks for the response, but your solution would require additional
punches in and out, if we wanted to do that we would simply have them
clock out of the job they're working on for their breaks, but that is
a non-productive use of time. There should be a way for the system
to allow you to schedule breaks without it affecting pay hours. That
way additional punches are not necessary.

Same question came up a few weeks ago. Couldn't find it in my old
messages, but a couple folks said Caesar depends on a few outside
consulting firms to sell, install, and support the product. They only do
the development. Still, you'd think they could answer a message directly
to them!

I believe Calvin Dekker at Misha1.net is one of the Caesar partners.

Due to the large volume of inquiries we have established a
relationship with Intelligent Systems Integration and Misha1 to also handle
sales of our products. Unfortunately, we had not planned for the huge amount
of interest and have definitely gone through some growing pains. I aplogize
for any inconvenience. You can contact ISI at (330)335-5291 or Misha1 at
(866)464-7421.

P.S. I tried to send this message earlier but bringing our e-mail onto
internal servers caused yahoogroups to reject the Caesardev.net address.
More growing pains.
