We control it by the part class.

Thanks for the answer Scott but I'm just looking for a way to do it
automatically. These parts are stocked parts so its nothing the job planner
will do and I don't want to leave it up to the receiver. If we set up the
Vendor as inspection required then every part will go into the inspection
process whether it is required to or not.

Oops, change that, because I just realized that I forgot another
way:

4. In receipt entry, a receiver always has the option of routing
material
to inspection, even if inspection is not required for the vendor or
if a
requestor, buyer or job planner did not indicate that inspection was
required.

As far as I know, there are only three other ways:

1. In vendor maintenance, you can check the "inspection
required"
checkbox to require that all items from that vendor are inspected;
2. If requisitions are used, a requestor can specify that
inspection is
required for requested items; and,
3. When planning to purchase material direct to a job, a job
planner
can check the "inspection required" checkbox to require that the
material is
inspected.

HTH.

Scott

I'm just curious how you out there handle this. We have a supplier
where
some but not all parts need to be inspected. Do you leave it up to
the buyer
to click on inspection required when creating the purchase order or
do you
set up a different part class and default it to inspection required
or is
there any other way?

Thanks

Fredy,

You can also flag for inspection in the part class. This would cause any
inventoried part with this class to automatically need to be inspected.
