Personalize Methods Tracker Tree View?

Any time Kerry... We users have to stick together as we'd die with all the help Epicor 'offers'...
:)

Hi Rob, yes, agreed. I really appreciate the time you've taken, at least now I know not to invest any more time in that direction myself.

ta kindly.

Is there any way to personalize/customize Tree Options for Method
Tracker? It'd be great if we could turn on descriptions and qties etc
in the left hand tree pane, as we do for Job Tracker, Quote Tracker,
Engineering Workbench etc. We've been told by our consultants (Cogita)
that it is not possible, but we've already done a few things that were
called "impossible", so haven't given up hope yet... What makes Method
Tracker so different from other trackers? Thanks in advance (I've asked this once before, but not in it's own thread).
Make sure you have peronalization checked on security

Right click on tree and select tree options.
You should then be able to select the table you want to read from.
Ecomtl for example.

I don't understand why you couldn't change the tree (personalize or customize) in the same way you can every other app I've seen. The only difference is the tree view is much more integral to how Method Tracker (or the editing equivalent in Engineers WB or Job Entry's Job Detials tree) actually functions.

They may have specifically tied event triggers & related BO methods to the tree and, if so, wisely disabled the ability to change the tree (so you don't screw up the application).

The only thing odd about Method Tracker (and the reason it is not directly menu deployed like other trackers) is that it has no search/load record control - That is why it is aways launched from the right click contect menu from other appropriate apps - like the Rev field in Part Entry or Tracker.

It is certainly NOT like the Resource Scheduling board where the graphical display sheet appears to be a non-customizable compiled (non .NET) application unto itself.

It is also not like Time Phase which is little more than a (pretty simple) Progress report that has been ".Net-ified" so you can change non-Grid control screen layout & add additional related data-views andassociated controls.

What's the harm in trying? You can always return layouts to base (or outright delete your personalization). If you are able to do it (and after a few days of use, run into no unpleasant 'surprises' as a result of your tinkering) perhaps then you'd be comfortable and could then roll it out as a company customization.

If you try it, I'd love to hear what you learned (good or bad). The standard tree layout is just fine for us - but who knows what future needs will be?

RobÂ

At a User level or a Group level I believe the security settings should already be correct, as we/I can right click and modify Tree Options without problem in all other windows with Trees. However for the Method Tracker Sub Process right clicking only brings up "Tree->Expand Tree / Collapse Tree", and "View Material Costs". The "Tree Options" that we are familiar with doesn't even show up as an option - not even greyed out. I've looked at the security settings for Method Tracker, and "loosened" them without improvement.
Have you tried going in under customiztion mode?

hi Rob - what I'm saying is that it won't let me "try"! There are no Tree Options available when I right click the tree. And in answer to the other post, yes, I have tried going in under customization mode. Are any of you saying that you have tried to right click the tree, and you've got Tree Options to pop up? ta
Easy enough to try tomorrow & let you know. (Stay tuned.)

Like I said, this could be an app with much inherent BO/method critical functionality tied directly to the events of clicking on the tree - thus making it much less likely they left it open for user changes.

We use LOTS of phantoms (pull and view as assembly)... Without the tree (as is), you'd never be able to drill down through the phantom levels... You'd have to load and view each one a time (and try to keep it straight in your head.)

...I'll let you know what I find tomorrow... Won't take but a minute or two.

ROb

Someone out their posted a question on KanBan monitors a few days ago & before replying (as I was just going through older mail), I spastically deleted it & emptied trash folder before realizing it.

The beef seemed to be with action messaging continuing even after POs were placed to replenish.

Questions:

1. Are your Purch KanBans Whse or Bin based? (Need to know what app you are using.)
2. Are you manually creating PO releases to handle the Monitor suggested action - or are you one of the lucky few who have actually gotten the process to Unapprove the PO you've set up as your KanBan PO/line, and add a new release to cover the KanBan need?
3. Are you concurrently still running MRP on your purchased KanBan parts?
4. Have you configured your purchased KanBan parts to be added to the Material Queue (AMM required) as part of the KanBan signalling process?

We're utilizing a LOT of Fab kanbans (and for that the monitor never comes into play as our process is purely a physical/empty bin triggered system and KanBans are processed and reported via KanBan receipts (aided by bar coded labels) within hours.

We have a vendor who suddenly wants to try intercompany (PO based) KanBan and I'm trying to refamiliarize myself with the apps to refresh my memory on what works and what doesn't - (as I haven't looked at them in over a year when we were on 403C and were still piloting).

I'm hoping in attempting to help you - whoever 'you' are (;o - I can also help us in the process.

Kerry,

They've definitely locked out change options on Methods Tracker tree view. Probably something inherent to application function tied to the tree.

I just spent 20 minutes searching the Epicor site for any kind of explanation why. Totally stuck out.

It would be nice if they documented this stuff.

Rob
