In the past, Caesar's has extended the room rate to include Saturday --
Friday (that's the longest I've ever stayed). There is definitely lunch
Mon-Tues-Wed, breakfast has been included on those days in the past as
well.
Monday night there's usually some kind of a meal, and Tuesday is their
big
"Gala" that is included. The food is generally pretty good, with
something
for everyone (vegans, beef-eaters and everyone in between).

Seems like there was even a cocktail party on Sunday night with food,
but I
haven't attended in a couple of years.

Thanks again to all those responding to my Perspectives questions. I
will be looking into joining the EUG. Last questions:

What all is included in registration fee (I see it's $1,195 per person
or 30% less with the EUG discount)? Any meals? Any
entertainments/"special events" after hours?

Although I believe it's not known yet, does the Epicor group rate at
Caesar's Palace ONLY cover the nights of the event (Sunday night -
Tuesday night), or can we come in early on Saturday OR stay over
Wednesday night and still get the discount for those nights?

Thanks!

Agree 100%. I have deal with the bosses - both work and home - I take
wife and get Palace Tower room but pay the difference myself. She
really likes the extra room and the views (either Bellagio Fountain or
north strip at night). The marble bathooms are HUGE. PT rooms though
book up very quickly and I have a hunch many are pre-booked for Epicor
bigshots - especially some of the mini-suite types with dual "Jack &
Jill" bathrooms. So book call CP early if you want a regular PT room.
OK, on your mark, get set, GO!!! (visions of Okalahoma land rush in
mind).

If the weather is nice the PT elevators also are right at the pool area
doors. Last year, not - year before hot. Never know what it will be in
Oct.

Seriously though there are very frugal hotel alternatives in the center
strip area and food secrets that can keep costs very low compared to any
other city for a meeting group this size. If attending or not is
balanced on cost issues and you can put up with decent but less than
regal accomodations please post questions - on or off list.
Perspectives works best with more people attending to share ideas and
experiences. For $37 a one year membership at lasvegasadvisor.com is
well worth it just for their POV coupon book's 2-for-1 deals.

I'm putting in my two cents: At $179 or 189 for a palace tower room at
Caesar', you have a big advantage: no dragging through the casino
trying to
get to your sessions. The palace tower elevator takes you directly (do
not
pass go) to the convention meeting rooms. I find it a trial to go
around
all of those gamblers -- especially on Wed AM when I'm late already.
Plus,
if your sense of direction is skewed, it makes it easier not to get
lost.
Well worth a few extra bucks. Not to mention that the rooms are
wonderful.

1. Yes, It was about $990. Expires roughly 60 days prior to start of
conference. I am not sure of pricing this year or early versus EUG
discount. Sending more than one person? Join EUG and the member fee is
basically free.

2. http://www.epicorusers.org/

3. The Epicor group prices were around $130 for regular room and $175
for
Palace Tower (much nicer). Cheap hotel info:
http://cheapovegas.com/index.php (very entertaining reviews of hotels).
If
you do not need to go back and forth to room dueing the day the Gold
Coast
across the freeway fro Caesars (across from Rio) is a cheap alternative
and
there is a free shuttle to Barbary Coast across the strip (via bridge)
fro
Caesars.

4. Sunday golf is pretty early (and expensive) - Registration starts in
afternoon (2-3?). Things get pretty dead on Wednesday anytime after
lunch
but session go to 3-4 or so.

There is a link to Pespectives info at
http://perspectives.epicor.com/perspectives/ but pretty basic so far.
Usually gets the brochure mailed around the beginning of July.

If you need info about LV please feel free to contact me off-list. I
have a
ton of resources and web links.

We are looking into sending 2 of us to Perspectives this year. In order
to make a case to attend (we've never attended before), I've got a few
questions:

1. I believe there is an "early bird" discount from the $1,195 price --
what is it and when does it expire?

2. How do we go about joining the EUG and how much does it cost in
order to obtain the 30% discount?

3. What sort of "group" rate can we expect to get at Caesar's - on
Expedia the average price of a room is $331/night (I realize there are
others in the area as I have been to Vegas quite a few times, but I
believe all the "bargain hotels" are not available (i.e. Imperial
Palace))?

4. When do the "events" get started on Sunday/end on Wednesday?

5. When will more information about Perspectives be put out?

I have been airfare watching and have seen a flight from Indy go from
$164 to $231 as of today -- if they go much higher and cheaper hotels

For those who attended Perspectives - I was told on the last day that
instead of a feedback and comments sheet about the conference there would be
a survey on the web. Does anyone know where this is (or will be)? I have
looked at the Epicor site and the customer section and can not find any
Perspectives related info (other than stale pre-conference pages).

They did not print the session notes and slides as they have done in the
past and claimed first that they would be available on CD by Tuesday of the
conference and later that we would get them in 2-3 weeks. I am really
steamed that I did not have a real paper copy to write notes on. I depend
on referring to the slides and my notes many times over the following year.
By the time I get the CD and make my own paper copy even my notepad full of
notes will fail to jog enough memory as to what I was thinking at the time.

I was also really disappointed by the lack of product specific sessions
(such as for Vantage) and the high number of 3rd party vendor related
sessions. Especially Monday which was a totally blown day with vendor
pitches all afternoon.

Finally, they were taking a lot of photos and video at the nightly parties.
Anyone know if they are going to post some of this on the web? Usually
there is a wrap-up lunch on the last day with some sort of audio-video recap
but lunch was outside and spread all over the place.

I really hope the next one is centrally located near a major airline hub
with lower cost hotels. Most of all I hope the product content value to
sale pitch ratio is a lot higher or I will not be going.

Thanks for your questions and comments. Later this week, all attendees will
receive a link via email to the Perspectives survey. If we got your email
address as part of the reg. process, you'll get the link info. In the
meantime, you can direct any comments/suggestions to me.

CD duplicating problems caused us to miss the Tue. delivery date you heard
about. We blew that one, plain and simple. No excuses. CD's will be shipped
to all attendees in a few weeks.

Thanks for the comments on Mon. afternoon. We've heard a range of opinions
on the value of the Partner Pavilion, mostly positive.

The "candids" video, as it's known in the industry, was shown at the end of
Wed. morning's general session. And it's great! We're considering putting it
on the CD and streaming it on epicor.com.

Epicor wants Perspectives to be an absolutely outstanding value for
customers, so any and all feedback is appreciated.

I thought I would share some of my random thoughts about the conference.
About 1500 people, 40 vendors, maybe 300 Vantage users. I enjoyed the
conference very much.
A lot of new Vantage people I have not meet before.
The hotel, food, accommodations were all great.

Some confusion with all the different epicor groups:
Platinum people walking around wondering why speakers were taking about
manufacturing so much.
Vantage people wondering who all those venders are and why aren't some of
them actually working with vantage.

All the "e" branding added confusion. e-front, e-back, e-mfg, e-industry,
e-scheduling, e-portal, e-intelligence, e-commerce, e-people.

e-Manufacturing Cairo will be out in November, then 5.1 (Cairus) to follow
in a few months. (What else would you call a interim release between Cairo
and Cyprus.) Credit to the name goes to MH.

Vendor booths great for networking, handouts, sales & consultant pitches.
Compaq hall of solutions, Vantage Cairo running on PC's and you could talk
with the developers.
(No sales or consultants pitches here!)
This was a great way to learn about the new release, just dive in!

Cairo MRP you can now put in the company config a prefix for jobs for MRP &
Job Entry. When you firm up a MRP job it will added it to your current job
numbering list, that's right it will reassign the job number. (This gets
ride of MRP skipping job numbers and makes MRP jobs easy to see all over the
system.) Yey!

Cairo Quality Module, data collection has both scrap entry and discrepant
material boxes, scrap is the old way, discrepant will feed the Quality
Module. Now you will not have to create a DMR for allowable scrap such as
setting up a machine. Yey!

I thought that last year was much more useful then this year. If it was in
the same location, with the same content next year, someone else can take my
place. My two cents.

Greg
Thanks Jim for the answers and update. Yes, please try to put the "candids"
video on the CD or stream from the web site. There were some people I met
there who I might be able to grab some still pictures of from the video.

I will reserve the rest of my comments for the survey except to add that the
color coded tables and badge lanyards was a great idea and made it a lot
easier to meet with Vantage people and share/receive info specific to my
needs back at work.

I have been airfare watching and have seen a flight from Indy go from
$164 to $231 as of today -- if they go much higher and cheaper hotels
are not available, we may need to rethink attending.

Your knowledge is much appreciated!!

I'm putting in my two cents: At $179 or 189 for a palace tower room at
Caesar', you have a big advantage: no dragging through the casino trying to
get to your sessions. The palace tower elevator takes you directly (do not
pass go) to the convention meeting rooms. I find it a trial to go around
all of those gamblers -- especially on Wed AM when I'm late already. Plus,
if your sense of direction is skewed, it makes it easier not to get lost.
Well worth a few extra bucks. Not to mention that the rooms are wonderful.

1. Yes, It was about $990. Expires roughly 60 days prior to start of
conference. I am not sure of pricing this year or early versus EUG
discount. Sending more than one person? Join EUG and the member fee is
basically free.

2. http://www.epicorusers.org/

3. The Epicor group prices were around $130 for regular room and $175 for
Palace Tower (much nicer). Cheap hotel info:
http://cheapovegas.com/index.php (very entertaining reviews of hotels). If
you do not need to go back and forth to room dueing the day the Gold Coast
across the freeway fro Caesars (across from Rio) is a cheap alternative and
there is a free shuttle to Barbary Coast across the strip (via bridge) fro
Caesars.

4. Sunday golf is pretty early (and expensive) - Registration starts in
afternoon (2-3?). Things get pretty dead on Wednesday anytime after lunch
but session go to 3-4 or so.

There is a link to Pespectives info at
http://perspectives.epicor.com/perspectives/ but pretty basic so far.
Usually gets the brochure mailed around the beginning of July.

If you need info about LV please feel free to contact me off-list. I have a
ton of resources and web links.

Agree 100%. I have deal with the bosses - both work and home - I take wife and get Palace Tower room but pay the difference myself. She really likes the extra room and the views (either Bellagio Fountain or north strip at night). The marble bathooms are HUGE. PT rooms though book up very quickly and I have a hunch many are pre-booked for Epicor bigshots - especially some of the mini-suite types with dual "Jack & Jill" bathrooms. So book call CP early if you want a regular PT room. OK, on your mark, get set, GO!!! (visions of Okalahoma land rush in mind).

If the weather is nice the PT elevators also are right at the pool area doors. Last year, not - year before hot. Never know what it will be in Oct.

Seriously though there are very frugal hotel alternatives in the center strip area and food secrets that can keep costs very low compared to any other city for a meeting group this size. If attending or not is balanced on cost issues and you can put up with decent but less than regal accomodations please post questions - on or off list. Perspectives works best with more people attending to share ideas and experiences. For $37 a one year membership at lasvegasadvisor.com is well worth it just for their POV coupon book's 2-for-1 deals.

Caesars is worth the money for the discounted rate. It's convenient to go
back to your room if you have a session break or not worry about being late
for the first session of the day, etc. Just an FYI, though, in my opinion,
last year's Perspectives catered mostly to Vantage 8 and some Vantage 6. I
didn't find anything useful for Vantage 5.x users. Depending on the version
you're running, that may be something to consider.

In the past, Caesar's has extended the room rate to include Saturday --
Friday (that's the longest I've ever stayed). There is definitely lunch
Mon-Tues-Wed, breakfast has been included on those days in the past as well.
Monday night there's usually some kind of a meal, and Tuesday is their big
"Gala" that is included. The food is generally pretty good, with something
for everyone (vegans, beef-eaters and everyone in between).

Seems like there was even a cocktail party on Sunday night with food, but I
haven't attended in a couple of years.

balanced on cost issues and you can put up with decent but less than
regal accomodations please post questions - on or off list.

Subject: [Vantage] Perspectives Questions

I have been airfare watching and have seen a flight from Indy go from
$164 to $231 as of today -- if they go much higher and cheaper hotels
are not available, we may need to rethink attending.

Your knowledge is much appreciated!!

Sincerely,

Unless something is changing.....
Meals:
You can make out quite well here minimizing expenses. Continental type breakfast (rolls, fruit, juice, coffee, tea, etc...) - decent if you are not trying to low-carb. Lunch - you won't go hungry -load up and light (or skip) dinner.

Event:
Usually Tuesday night. Lots of food. Great band (I believe Dave Mathews House Party last few years). Sometimes hosted drinks. Extra tickets (such as for spouse) have been $75 or included in guest meal package. My trouble is that for $75 wife and I can go see a cheap LV show. On the other hand the party is very fun (and sometimes very funny).

Group Rates:
I have always booked the Caears group rate for Saturday night prior and 1-2 nights after. I think it was good thru Thur. night since LV rates escalate on Fri-Sat for L.A. drive up gamblers. Last year we stayed at Caesars Wednesday night and had a coupon for a free night at Main Street Station downtown so stayed there Thur. and flew home Friday. Would have had to fly home Thurs. anyway so took a vacation day for Friday. Very easy to extend the trip into a mini-vacation.

The free room downtown was via the LasVegasAdvisor coupon book which also had free buffet and 2-for-1 dinner deals. Cheap vacation (not counting chance of gambling losses).
