Problem upgrading to 5.0

I had the exact same problem.

I did this
1)Use the add and remove programs and remove Progress 9.1

2)Delete the folders within the Epic50 folder, you may have to pick the last
few file as some are unable to be deleted as there is a share violation.
There will be about 4 or 5 dll files left and the Vantage.exe you can't
delete

3)Make sure you have Internet explorer 5 on the machine

4)Double make sure that procontrol for vantage 4 is stoped

5)Triple make sure the Admin service for 9.0B is stoped in your services
section, I think that's what I did wrong.

Then Start again doing the install......Good Luck

Is anyone having problems upgrading vantage 5.0? I tried to run schema
changes for 10 hours and it froze up on me so I rebooted the machine and now
I get the Dr. Watson Error _mprosrv.exe when I attempt to open progress
explorer tool. I tried to uninstall progress but it keep telling me that
it's in use even though it's not in the task manager. I am still waiting for
the helpdesk support to help me but I thought I'd tried this egroups first.

Marites -

If you have already started the uninstall process, I would
recommend continuing. If not, please advise why you
have chosen to uninstall Progress from the server.

To uninstall Progress:
Check on the server under the control panel, services.
Find the Admin Service for Progress. Most likely near the
top of the list and change the service to manual instead of
automatic. Then stop the service. Do the same for the
Progess DB service listed further down the list.

Sometimes you have to reboot the server for these services
to fully stop. After all the services for Progress are stopped,
you should be able to uninstall.

HTH,
Calvin

ps: I'll be in most of today if you need a hand.
