Progress 32 bit Epicor Admin tools on 64bit server

I believe OE102a is still available to download from epicor’s FTP site.

Patrick, I “think” I know what happened.  We were hit hard with a “ransomeware” virus about a  month ago that took siege on our network and “encrypted” thousands of files (mostly .doc, .xls).  Since Epicor9 continued to run after we got hit, I didn’t think much about it.  I just now noticed that there were a ton of Javascript .js files in the OE102a directory that were corrupted and I’m guessing that’s what has screwed mine up.  I really don’t want to mess with the server trying to reinstall OpenEdge or anything but I’m betting if I had a copy of a good oe102a directory, I’ll bet I could copy over the corrupted files with the correct ones and fix my problem…..Any chance you might be able to “zip up” your oe102a directory and let me download it???

Also installation done by Epicor.

I’m behind on my patches, was thinking this may have caused the issue for you.

Yes you can run it on 64 bits without having a 32Â

Here's how sorry the paste on my phone sucks
Summary:
How to setup the Admin Tools to run on Windows 64-bit server?
Details:
XA905

Issues:

  • The Epicor Admin Tools are not available on 64-bit
  • The Epicor Install Guide requires the installation of an Admin 32-bit Workstation
  • Running the Admin Tools on 64-bit returns a shared memory error such as "The shared memory is version 50331648; expected 12009 (1178)"

Resolution:
Although not mentioned in the install guide since 9.05.603 it is possible to setup the Epicor Admin Tools on a Windows 64-bit server

Steps:

  1. Make sure you are running at least Open Edge 10.2A with SP3 and HF 23

  2. Change the ProPath in the INI file specified in the Admin Tools shortcut to include the new 32 bit paths:
    e.g. E:\Epicor905\32\Server , E:\Epicor905\32\ClientServer

  3. Right Click the Epicor Admin Tools icon and change the START IN to also include the \32 folder:
e.g. Full Start In: line would be: E:\Epicor905\32\ClientServer

  4. If it is on SQL, make sure you are not using a Read-Only schema holders and create a 32-bit DSN if necessary by running:
    C:\windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe

  5. Edit the .PF files to use TCP packets vs a direct shared memory connection.
Add the -N -H -S parameters. (-S will be the database port defined in oe102a\properties\conmgr.properties)

Example if you are running a Progress DB

BEFORE:
-Mm 1024 -mmax 65534 -Bt 4096 -s 8000 -yy 1970 -stsh 31 -inp 32000 -tok 4000 -TB 31….
-T "C:\EpicorData\"
-db "C:\Epicor905\db\mfgsys"
-cpinternal utf-8 -cpstream utf-8 -cprcodein utf-8 -cpcoll icu-uca

AFTER:
-Mm 1024 -mmax 65534 -Bt 4096 -s 8000 -yy 1970 -stsh 31 -inp 32000 -tok 4000 -TB 31 -TM 32 -D 500 -l 1000 -ttmarshal 5 -tmpbsize 8 -rereadnolock -lkwtmo 180
-T "C:\EpicorData\"
-db mfgsys -N TCP -H localhost -S 9400
-cpinternal utf-8 -cpstream utf-8 -cprcodein utf-8 -cpcoll icu-uca
