Project Billing: PO Miscellaneous charges

Hello,

E9.05.702A

We recently rolled up Project Management with Project Billing. We didn’t test it prior but we have a scenario where a PO line, that is associated to a Project Job, has a miscellaneous charge but they value of the miscellaneous charge is not reflected to the project invoice. The expectation is that it would be.

Does anyone know if the misc charge should be reflected on the project invoice or are these not included.
If they are not included, how are others dealing with this?

Joe,

I remember having a similar problem. If memory serves me right here is how all that works.

PO Entry
Misc charges on PO headers never get job costed.
Misc charges on PO details have the possibility of getting job costed based on how you handle in AP Invoice Entry.

AP Invoice Entry
Misc charges on Invoice Header never get job costed
Misc charges APPLIED to Invoice Detail lines do get job costed, so long as the detail lines are generated from receipts which are tied to jobs, which are tied to projects. (I believe this statement is correct, but you’ll have to do some testing to confirm)
Taxes applied at the header level also don’t get project costed.

The easiest way to get around this that we have found is to just add parts to the PO as “other” and go to the release tab and enter the project ID (this is in lieu of adding misc charges). This will cause everything to be project costed and makes it easy to generate BAQs and other reports since the Project ID is linked to each line. I found trying to include misc charges was a pain in all the different reports.

For the taxes we add a part called “sales tax” to AP Invoices as a Misc Job line and then do some crazy reporting to make accounting happy.

my 2 cents.

Hi Bobby.

Thank you for the response. I will test these processes out now!
