Not sure if this is related, I lost all the computer names when I separated
the server in Progress Explorer into two (ODBCGroup and VantageGroup) to
configure ODBC. When I had it as one server configuration selected as both
(4GL and SQL) the names appeared.
For ghost sessions, I use a LicenseManager now to check for them. The names
are still missing, but I can compare a Vantage license to a Progress Session
and if there is no match, I have a ghost. I can also check the idle time of
a workstation, invalid connection indicates a ghost. I also kill any ghost
sessions using Promon remotely from the LicenseManager from my desk without
having to run to the computer room to kill it at the server.

Subject: [Vantage] Promon - Not Showing User Names
Since last week Promon has not been showing usernames. It shows the TTY
(computer name in network settings) but for Windows-98 PCs this is not
reliable because most were setup incorrectly way back. So without the user
login name it is difficult to temrinate "ghost" sessions (after a user has
crashed their PC). This is Progress 9.1d - Vantage 6.0.
Any ideas why Promon would suddenly start omitting the login name? The
'Connected Users' screen in Vantage also shows nothing for "OS Login" but
does at least show the Vantage username for most sessions.
We had a fairly severe thunderstorm system last night and the server was out
this morning (my fault, Progress services not set for automatic start after
5.2 to 6.0 upgrade). There have been a lot of user issues so chasing down
ghost sessions has been very aggravating today.
Thanks,
