User Names in Promon

So, is what you're experiencing then an issue with ODBC connections and
or setting up a ODBCGroup in default properties on the db, thereby not
showing usernames in promon?

I forgot about this username thing. Ours went away exactly when we
setup ODBC. But some people do show up (as alluded to in an earlier
message). I can see the users on all the Win2K machines as well as
Win98 machines that have been setup in the DNS section with their own
name as the Host (rather than a server's name). When I get stuck I have
to sometime resort to the "Connected Users" screen in Vantage to find a
PID for a particular user since this shows their login name.

I noticed after I set up the database to allow ODBC connections I could
not see usernames in promon anymore. I would guess your one database
doesn't have ODBC setup and that's why you can see usernames on it.
However I'm not aware of any fix.

Support, but they didn't seem to know how to resolve this issue. Has
anyone from the group had a similar experience?

My promon command shortcut is:
E:\Epic52\PROGRESS\bin\_mprshut.exe -0 e:\epicor\mfgsys60\db\mfgsys.db

...so I would assume you could change the DB name and make a shortcut for each seperate database. Just a guess. Post if that does not work so I won't try it when I get our test DB up again.

I have a shortcut to both my live database and my training for promon. You
are correct Todd, the only difference is the database location. Mine are
named the same just in a different folder.
(...D:\epicor\mfgsys61\db\mfgsys.db and ...D:\epicor\siptrain\db\mfgsys.db)
I had them for 5.2 and now 6.1.

I have the same problem (V5.2) with user id not showing. If I select option
"8" (shut down database) instead of "1" (user control), I can see the all
the pc's logged into Vantage in the "tty" column, except for one for some
strange reason. One other interesting note, is that if I'm using Crystal
Reports and have logged into the database, I do see "sysprogr" in the
"userid" column.

At some time in the past the userid's did show, but lost them somewhere
during an upgrade possibly (I'm on Progress 9.1D06)

I sure would like to get this fixed and like you, had no luck with Epicor.

Yeah, I can get to promon just fine...I am unable to userid's once
inside promon. It only displays the host name and or computer name.

I forgot about this username thing. Ours went away exactly when we setup ODBC. But some people do show up (as alluded to in an earlier message). I can see the users on all the Win2K machines as well as Win98 machines that have been setup in the DNS section with their own name as the Host (rather than a server's name). When I get stuck I have to sometime resort to the "Connected Users" screen in Vantage to find a PID for a particular user since this shows their login name.

I noticed after I set up the database to allow ODBC connections I could
not see usernames in promon anymore. I would guess your one database
doesn't have ODBC setup and that's why you can see usernames on it.
However I'm not aware of any fix.
