Cliff,
Running Vantage 4.0. Thanks. I'll try calling Tech Support to see if
there's one of those for 4.0.

In Version 6 you can get a utility call sysusr60.r I got from
support that will free up ghost licenses. I run this once every couple of
days to see if I have a ghost licenses. It disconnects them.

Mike P., Lois, Rebecca or anyone,
Happy New Year. When you guys were carrying on this thread a couple of
weeks ago, I said to myself, "I wonder why this has never happened to me?"
...Never say never. So I'd like to ask a couple of questions about this.
We had a network sync problem on one of our workstations just before the end
of the year, when that network card hiccupped (I think). I replaced the
card, but now Promon shows that we are one license short. Sounds like the
same kind of problem you guys were discussing, about "ghost" Vantage
sessions.
Rebecca mentioned she has to "remove multiple session capability" to stop
this. Would she do that from somewhere within Vantage? Or from Mike
Podlin's Timeout utility? Or somewhere else?
In Mike Podlin's reply he said, "What I've done to get around this is to
check the list of Vantage license to the list of Progress sessions, and if
there is a Vantage license in use without an associated Progress session,
delete the license and free it up. On hung Progress sessions, I terminate
them with a Promon link from my desk." Does Mike mean he can view and
terminate the Vantage licenses from within Vantage (or somewhere)?
With too few licenses already, the Vantage users are champing at the bit
over here. I need to free up that license. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Gary Polvinale

Lois,
We have this problem also, usually when someone's desktop crashes. Sometimes
I can shutdown the user through ProMon, but other times I can't. During the
times I can't, I allow multiple sessions for that user. Then, after the
system reboots over night, I remove the multiple session capability, and
then everything seems to be okay.

Can someone tell me the proper way for users to log out of vantage
before they close out all together. We have had a problem with ghost
sessions remaining open. Thought this might be the issue.
