We are looking at a new business model where we would rent our equipment. Time period would be initially fixed, but might expand if the customer needs require a longer period of time.
My closest example would be like the old Blockbuster video model - customer rents the video for 2 days, but if they keep it longer the charges expand.
Also, in the background we would want to track the equipment by serial number.
Anyone anywhere doing something like this???
Hi, this is a pain to do , as you will probably want to depreciate your assets while on hire, and when you return a serialised item on an RMA it comes back in at the same value.
the secret is not to send it out, just put it in a non nettable bin and do some work on the misc ship form to get the document you want.
I know one of the partners who have created their own mobile service solution is looking to add this functionality
All assets are suppose to be serialized, you have field for this or you can maintain in Equipment master linked with the asset. You may use Tag # field too.
Moreover, define various customer location as part of asset location master. When issued out change the location, on receiving change back, enable log on this field to track the movement. You can also create custom report for shipping such assets out.
