Report doesn't work in 5.0

I posted this one a couple days ago, and just figured out the
solution. Maybe it'll help someone else...

Turns out the report had some calculated fields that were not printed
anywhere. They used DB fields that were renamed in V5 (the really annoying
"Our" prefix they slapped on things.) Report Builder never gave any
warning that the calculations had invalid field names, and just ignored
them. Apparently the report engine that Vantage runs them with is more picky.

Doing a "Purge Calculations" in R.B. to get rid of all the unused fields
corrected things.

Have an odd problem since our upgrade to 5.0. One report builder report
works fine directly from Report Builder. If we try to run it from Custom
Report Links or a menu item, and the "change report filters" option is
checked, the report never displays or prints.

Watching the windows task manager, ProRE32.Exe starts and runs for a few
seconds, then disappears. The edit filters box never comes up, and no
errors are displayed. If change filters is not checked, then it runs or
prints ok with the default filters.

Any suggestions?

I have had this happen a few times. The change filters box was actually on
the screen but it was behind all the windows and it didn't show on the task
bar. Close or minimize all windows and see if it is on the screen. I'm not
sure why it goes to the background sometimes.

Thanks for the suggestion. But we're all too familiar with that one ;) It
happens if the user gets impatient and clicks on the initial report
dialogue box before the filters come up. Tell 'em to click "print" once
and only once!

Try moving the report to a new PRL. If your current PRL is very large
Vantage will lose track of it.

Use report builder to create a new PRL file so you have a nice clean file to
start with.
