We use OP yield Job Qty recalc processing also (having done so on our legacy system as well) and found it !surpise! to be an 8.03 process that actually lives up to the sale hype.
We never messed with the alerts. (I prefer people get out of their seats and have a conversation.)
I seem to recall enabling the Alerts option just invoked/enabled a precanned BAM that handles the email chores (after tialoring to your specific emial sys and prospective recipient list).
Last I looked at it was when piloting on 305g... The help files on how to set it up seemed pretty good.
I'd start there (if you haven't already).

Subject: [Vantage] Send Shop Warning Alert

We have our operations set to recalculate yield at 0% under. This way
whenever scrap is reported the job quantity is reduced and we don't
have to revisit the order. The planners would like to get an email only
if the operation is completed less than some other value. In the
operation I see where you can create a shop warning and send a shop
warning alert. What I don't see is anywhere to list whom I would like
this alert to go to. I am assuming that I use the "Operation efficiency
% is under limit" option but I still don't know how to send it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
