I am trying to understand why when I click the To Location button that it is using the site’s default Receipt Warehouse instead of the one specified on the PO. The PO Release is an “Other” type. Is that the issue? My understanding was that the Warehouse/Bin would default to the site’s default Receipt location and that clicking the To Location would switch it to the Warehouse specified on the PO.
Doesn’t “Other” really indicate that this not a stocked part anyway? For example it may be a service. Looking at the po release for an other type line I see that the warehouse is greyed out. So I can’t see how you could change the warehouse on the PO Release. Unless you were changing the warhouse first I suppose.
Here is a other PO Release
Here is an Inventory PO Release
Interestingly the Site Config is shows the receiving warehouse as floor Stock in the Main site but the receiving warehouse is Receiving Area. Why it defaults to floorstock appears to be because the Primary warehouse is floorstock for that part.
Digging into the help. There is a swathe of conditions as to how the values are determined based on the Use Last Warehouse/Bin check box in the Company Configuration > Modules > Materials > Shipping/Receiving flag and if you have the AMM licences or not… So it why it works the way it does will depend on those factors in your environment, and of course if you don’t have any customisations hiding behind that button of course.
Why is it that something you observe as should be simple and straight forward never is Needless to say that’s why you were asking the question in the first place.
Very quick testing I can see if there is no primary bin setup for the part on the po release (and Other) would be that case, then it gets the bin from the site configuration information.
Hope that helps.
