I downloaded it from the cnet download area. It is called QWAV.exe. Here
is a link but I suspect when it is displayed it will wrap funny so you may

I created a wave file using a tone generator program (also freeware) and
recording/editing it using Windows Sound Recorder. 800 hertz was almost
exactly the same tone as the tone generator on the paging system created.
High enough to be heard over the plant noise but low enough to be audible
even by folks (like me) with rock&roll impaired hearing. ;)

I created a version for shift end with a Fred Flintstone "YabaDabaDo" added
on the end of the tone but the Plant Manager was not keen on this so the
boring 3sec 800Hz is it. If you would like a copy of either I would be
happy to attach to an email to you.

One caution about using a sound card is DON'T pop a music CD in the CD
drive! Ditto for product demo CD's.

the normal buzzer sound or which did you find acceptable, just curious...

I am running our shop bells from a sound card in the NT server running
Vantage. We used to have a programmable event timer similar to what schools
use which triggered a tone generator in our paging system (plant zone only)

the task being scheduled. The job has multiple scheduled times which makes
it very easy to maintain.

We used to have an issue with people knowing that Vantage clicked over to
the shift end time a minute before the bell so they clocked out and were
literally stepping out the door as the bell sounded. It was fun the first
day on the new arrangement watching them line up waiting for the screen time
to change and then seeing it change exactly as the bell sounded.

We have a small relay board which is controlled by the COM port on our
Vantage server. This relay sends a signal to a tone generator which is
connected to our PA system.

On the server itself we have a small program that, when run, sends an
activation signal out the COM port. We sound the buzzer at given times by
using AT commands to run the program.
