Slow login from Citrix/Terminal Server

Does this act slow when logging in at the same site as the Citrix Server ?

Does this act slow when logging in directly on the Citrix Server ?

Check the paths in the .mfgsys file to make sure you aren't dragging large files across the network instead of keeping them on your Citrix Server.

We are on V8.03.408. When logging into our Citrix/Terminal server either using the Citrix client or Remote Desktop, after typing in username and password. It will take anywhere from 1 1/2 to 2 minutes before you will see the Vantage desktop. It doesn't matter whether you are logging in as a full Vantage client or as a MES client.

Has anybody run into this problem? Is there anyway to speed up the login process?

TIA,

Randy Duly
The more jobs they haven't logged out of, the slower the login time.

I am sorry, but what does jobs have to do with logging into Vantage from Citrix/Terminal Server. I know Vantage 8 loads more things from the server to the client unlike Vantage 6 does.

It has been our experience that when logging into MES, if a user hasn't
logged out of jobs the longer it takes to log in. It isn't necessarily
connected to Citrix or TS - just in general. It may not be your problem
but something worth looking at.

But this happens whether you are MES or Vantage full client. Well I got a call into support to see if they can shed any light on the subject. Thanks.

I am going to ask this question again. See below. Does anybody got any
ideas.

Summary: Slow login from Citrix/Terminal Server

3/3/2010 10:24:35 AM Randy Duly Slow login from Citrix/Terminal Server

We are on V8.03.408. When logging into our Citrix/ Terminal server either
using the Citrix client or Remote Desktop, after typing in username and
password. It will take anywhere from 1 1/2 to 2 minutes before you will see
the Vantage desktop. It doesn't matter whether you are logging in as a full
Vantage client or as a MES client.

Has anybody run into this problem? Is there anyway to speed up the login
process?

We have not gone live yet, because I can see our remote users getting
irritated at having to wait so long for Vantage to start up.

We are in Fort Wayne, IN and our remote plant is in Clinton, TN. We both
have a bonded t-1 line. So communication speed isn't the problem. We are
getting 3 mbps download speed and 2 mbps upload speed.

Thanks!

Randy Duly

I seem to remember an issue related to the vantage framework trying to
authenticate some windows component using the internet. If these users
have no internet access it could be the source of your problem.
