For those of you using terminal server for your data collection
stations, are you running terminal server on your Vantage Server, or
are you running it on a separate server. Also, how big of a box are
you running it on & for how many clients?

Thanks.

I need direction in getting my clients connected through terminal
server. I have TS installed on the server and the client installed
on the workstation. When I attempt to connect the connection times
out. Perhaps it is the adding of the user to terminal server and
some type of permissions that are wrong. Can anyone give me some
tips please?
I would like to help you, I got a lot of help from this list when we were
trying to get Terminal server going last spring and then with Citrix last
month. However, Since we set TS up so long ago, it's difficult to remember
the exact steps we took. Once we got the server configured properly, the
user folders set up, the vantage command line correct, and then installed
the client, it seems that it was pretty straightforward at that point.
Connect to TS, pick the TS computer name, and log on. Are you attempting to
access from a local client or a remote client? Sometimes across our T1 at
the remote sites, they will g et a Timeout error, but usually if they try
again it will connect. It is much slower than connecting locally. Are you
able to connect locally?
We are trying to connect remotely. We also have a T-1. What do you mean am
I able connect locally? I can connect as the Administrator locally but that
seems to be it.

We no longer allow attachments to files. To access/share Report Files,
please go to the following link: http://www.egroups.com/files/vantage/

www.egroups.com, login and be sure to save your password, choose My Groups,

Have you tried installing the terminal server client onto a local client and
connect to the Terminal server via that connection?

Sarah... I have my user Chrisd created in the users. How do you create TS
Profile? What other pertinent information is required?
I used a book called "Windows NT Terminal Server and Citrix MetaFrame"
published by "New Riders" and written by Ted Harwood. I would recommend this
to anyone setting up Terminal server for the first time.

I was looking for the notes, but I can't seem to find the binder. Our
network administrator is on Vacation this week, I think he'd remember
exactly how to set it all up. When we create new users now, it's just a
matter of creating a folder for that user within the users folder and
putting a vntgwork folder in there. Then we create a user folder in the
profiles folder and just copy everything from another users profile.

We also had to go into the user on the main server and edit the user so that
is maps v to the epicor directly on logon. This step is not needed with
Citrix, but we needed it when we were connecting through terminal server
directly into Vantage.

Lois, It sounds like you may not have the server set to allow the clients
to log on locally. You should create a group and place all TS users in that
group and let that group log on locally. You set these permissions using
User Manager\Policies\User Rights. Then select Log On Locally and select
the group you created. If you are connecting from a different domain, you
will need to set trusts up between domains. Hope this was of some help.

This is a very basic NT function for an administrator. If you have trouble
