SPC Program

Dick:

Have you looked at the IQS module? (it may be called AQS--I'm never sure).
Saw it at Perspectives, it works with 6.1 and 8, covers SPC, Vendor report
cards, machine maintenance, tool calibration. Runs on SQL, but snaps in to
Vantage (need calibration? Notify Purchasing.). I also saw a webinar, and
spoke with some trusted folks who seem to think this is a really good
add-in. I know some of them have not been. We have it in our budget for
this year, but I'm not sure when we are getting started yet...it may be
April or May.

It is probably worth looking into. It is a third-party software based in
Ohio (I think). We are awaiting an additional meeting -- they are coming to
CA in the spring to meet with a bunch of Vantage users.

Michael,
You have a skill set using Progress that most of us vantage users do not
have.
My question is..is there a spc package that either epicor, or the spc
vendor has coded
To work with the production module in vantage.
We are currently using a custom coded ACCESS program where we are
extracting information from
Vantage to update the access SPC tables. It works pretty good (aside
from the ACCESS limitations),
but the custom programmer is killing us, and if something were to happen
to him, we'd be out in
The cold.
Regards,

Interfaced how? I've interfaced Northwest Analytical's Quality Monitor,
Quality Supervisor, and Quality Analyst to our Vantage:

From Vantage Job Tracker you can launch QA for SPC data and it'll load
with the SPC data for that Job Number.
I have a custom app that scans Vantage shop scheduled jobs that should
be running, compare them to available SPC files and automatically create
the QS monitor screens.
Built own custom shop floor menus where after the operator logs in with
their clock number, they can enter a job number, select and operation.
If there is an associated SPC file for that operation, it is called out
on the screen. Clicking a button launches the QM application and I
automatically populate specific fields in the collection screen (clock
#/emp name, job number, rev.) This way we never have incorrect
reference data being entered and it can all be tracked back to Vantage
and a specific Job.

That's the basic functions, there are some other functions I tied in
like reporting and charting.

Is anyone using an SPC program that interfaces with Vantage?
TIA.

Mr. Plaman asks:
> Is anyone using an SPC program that interfaces with Vantage?

Let me add, "How do people collect SPC data in Vantage?" Do you collect data
(first piece dimensional measurements, etc.) with an external program? Are
there ways of doing so in Vantage directly (none that I have found so far...)
It's a question for the implementation consultant, but I thought I'd follow up
on Dick's query.

Double TIA,

Mark W.

Hi,

I don't think I can bring much to the table but epicor did announce
somesort of agreement with a Quality system supplier(IQS) some months
ago.
However, this is likely to at least version 8.0 if not a version after
that. Sorry I can't tell you much more, I don't know whether SPC will
be used in the package. I think it is more quality management rather
than specification management.
Epicor has partnered with IQS which offers a quality program. They refer to this as their "advanced quality program". I don't know the specifics in regards to SPC however, I know that it does interface with several of the other modules.
