Subcontract Operations Impact on Schedule?

Once you ship the parts out to the sub-contractor, the job and quantities
will show up on the Subcontract Status Report if you select Scheduled
Receipts. So as soon as you send them out it can tell you when to expect
them back, assuming your "Days Out" are correct. But the standard report is
reading when they were scheduled to return without regard to the date you
shipped them. So if an operation uses 5 Days Out and you are 6 days late in
sending them out they will already be late coming back.

You might be able to create a report linking the partran table with the
joboper and calculate the real planned receipt by calculating the days out
from the transaction date of the shipment. The transaction that is created
when you ship is MFG-VEN. Maybe you could link to vendor pricelist if you
use them.

Thanks Keith.

How does the Sch Board know that the 'clock is ticking' on the subcontract
operation?

After a vendor Shipment is created/done?

Check the "Days Out" on the Sub contract operation. Regardless of the PO
this is what the scheduling board wants to use for scheduling in 6.1.

We are on version Vantage 6.10.541.

We are trying to figure out how a Subcontract 'Job Operation'(IE: HEAT
TREATING) is treated by Job Scheduling.

Let's say our Welding Operation is complete. Next up is Heat Treating,
outside subcontracted operation.
Our Heat Treating Work Center is set up as : SubContract, no Move hours or
Queue hours. We then cut a 'PO' to the vendor, and Approve that PO when the
part is sent to the vendor.

The problem is, how does the Scheduling know that the Heat Treating
'operation' is now indeed 'in the works'? Viewing the Bar Graph Scheduling
Board , the Outside Op shows as '0%' done, even though, according to the Due
Date (PO date), the Op should be about 75% done.

Are we missing a step along the way?
