System Selection

Shirley, your summation of Vantage is right on the money from where I sit.

I am assuming you are a member of the Elist already. If you go into this
months archive there was a spirited conversation regarding this. To
summarize the thread (and the other members of the group should feel free
to
contradict me)

VANTAGE PRODUCT QUALITY - About as good as you are going to get (Very
Stable, and users tend to love it)
VANTAGE TECH SUPPORT - I've never seen a better support group.
BUG FIXES and response to user enhancement requests - (slow, and I'm
being
kind)
LICENCE PRICING - Thats where the SPIRITED debate started.

Well group is this a just assement?

Good morning folks!

Our company is currently attempting to select a new software package,
and we have narrowed our list down to Vantage & Visual Mfg. One of
our critical needs is a package that can track sales/profitability by
division. Our company has three divisions under one roof, and we
would like to be able to split sales/costs by division. Our Vantage
sales rep. recommended using the "Multi-Site Management" optional
module to accomplish this.

Is anyone out there using multi-site mgmt. in a situation similar to
this?? If so, how well is it working??

Or, does anyone track sales/profitability by divisions another way---
through group/product codes???

While I'm going, I have another quick question. Does Vantage Payroll
support 401k employer matching?? I assumed that Vantage would have
no problem handling this, but our sales rep. couldn't show me how it
was done.

I'd sure appreciate any replies to these questions. Might not be a
bad idea to reply directly to me rather than the list; as these issues
probably don't involve many other users.

Thanks for your help!!!!

I can answer the payroll one that we have used it since 1996 and it handles
401(k) employer matching just fine. It has a special type of "deduction"
for these type of expenses. Works just fine. Sounds like your sales rep
needs some training. Don't know about the others questions.

We are in the same situation as you.. we also have three divisions under one main company. We had to write reports for sales by division and invoices by division. They are run on a per day basis. It wasn't easy and they take loads of time to process. We are not Multi Site, but that might be better. I would make Vantage sales deliver on their idea before I went for it.

We have three companies, but not three divisions. We do not use the
multi-site management, but we did look into it briefly. It did not offer
what we were looking for in terms of multiple companies, but it did have
more enhancements for the case of multiple plants. However, from what I
remember, the sales and invoicing were the same and it was the jobs that
were broken out by plant. But, you should ask your rep for a demo of a
company set up with three plants, and ask him to SHOW you how sales orders
would be entered and what types of reports could be generated and how. One
of my mistakes was not having them SHOW enough of what we wanted on the
multi-company side when we purchased 3.0. If they said it was there, I
beloved them, not always so clear once you get the software.
