Time change

The time issue/problem is not related to Vantage. This is a Progress issue
and applies to certain versions of Progress regardless of ERP software that
you are using. You can get more information at www.progress.com or
www.peg.com.

Our Vantage server automatically changed time this weekend to adjust
for eastern standard time. Vantage although did not adjust and shows 1
hour earlier 5:45 rather than the server time 6:45.
Progress Procontrol also shows 5:45.
Where is the progress time set?
Until now it has always reflected the server time.
Vantage V 3.00.629
Progress V 8.3A
Any ideas will be appreciated.
I have the same problem, how odd, as far as I can remember the time change
never was a problem for Vantage.
Vantage gets it's time from the server, afaik. If you change the time on the
server and refresh Vantage you will see change in Data Collection, and
everywhere else. I was taught not to change the server/Vantage time by too
much of a difference (more than a couple of minutes), because of the
database discrepancies this could cause. But, I guess for now the quick
workaround will be to set the server time one hour ahead?

Hi there, we are in the same boat, two different companies, running 2
different versions,correct time on servers, data collection clocks
are 1 hour behind. I have call into support. Anybody out there have
the fix??????
I do not have the fix for this problem, but let me offer my solution to
avoid time problems. Our shop runs 5 or six days a week for 24 hours a day
so this gives me a small window to do this each week. I have written four
simple batch files that I have scheduled with the at command. I run these at
noon every Sunday. I have w32time Service set to MANUAL on the server. I
leave it turned off. The first batch file runs at noon and shuts off
Progress, the next batch file runs and it starts the w32time service. This
updates the time on the server to a time source. The next batch file turns
the w32time service back off. This will ensure that the time service does
not run itself periodically each day. Then the last batch file re-starts
Progress. I have been doing this for a couple of years and have not had any
time issues. I do not have the problem that others are having with this most
recent time change either. Just thought I would share this for future
reference.

I think that I shouldn't have to monkey with the server time just to get Vantage working correctly! I'm not slamming your idea Paul, just venting my frustration.

If the President/CEO, (whatever he/she is) is actually monitoring this group, I think its time that he/she got it together over there big-time and fixed some of this @#$%@#$% that we've been dealling with......

Taking responsibility for one's actions is whats called for here!!

Just called tech support,
Apperently we are not the only ones with this problem. The only thing they
can tell right now is that rebooting the server helps for some. If the
problem persists tech support advises to set the server clock one hour
ahead. They also promised a call back as soon as they find the fix....

The time was wrong on our Vantage database and I took the check mark off on
the automatically adjust for daylight savings time on the server and it
worked

Guess we're just lucky but I am not seeing it here. Time shown in Data
Collection is same as our server and now showing daylight savings time.
Vantage 4.00.812 and Progress 9.0B. So it might not be 100% or universal.

I'll amend my previous post. Data Collection main screen shows time OK,
Shop tracker shows people clocked in at right time (6.50) and so does a dump
of labor detail records but report builder and Vantage reports show time in
report heading to be one hour behind. Not saying others aren't seeing it in
DC screen just adding to list of symptoms in case someone has an idea.

Guess we're just lucky but I am not seeing it here. Time shown in Data
Collection is same as our server and now showing daylight savings time.
Vantage 4.00.812 and Progress 9.0B. So it might not be 100% or universal.

Just called tech support,
Apperently we are not the only ones with this problem. The only thing they
can tell right now is that rebooting the server helps for some. If the
problem persists tech support advises to set the server clock one hour
ahead. They also promised a call back as soon as they find the fix....

I think that I shouldn't have to monkey with the server time just to get
Vantage working correctly! I'm not slamming your idea Paul, just venting my
frustration.

If the President/CEO, (whatever he/she is) is actually monitoring this
group, I think its time that he/she got it together over there big-time and
fixed some of this @#$%@#$% that we've been dealling with......

Taking responsibility for one's actions is whats called for here!!

NT4 Service Pack6 plus hot fix
I am having this problem on 3.0. In my case it got worse. On a reboot, I am
getting a Fatal error Wide Negotiation failure. Then it stops. Anybody see
this before?
