THANKS! I had ProVision licensed on all versions up to 5.1. Did not
notice that Epicor did not send me the license for 5.1

Under Vantage ver 4.0 we wrote a little batch Progress program that
took a ShipHead Character field and reformatted it into
Shiphead.Shiplog. No biggie but handy. Now I'm in ver 5.1 and when
I went to run this program I get the message " You may not compile
programs that update the database in this version (490)".

What am I missing or did Epicor take away my writing privledges?

Thanks !!

Is the program a .P source code file, or compiled into a .R object
file? In order for a .P file to write to the DB, you have to have
ProVision licensed and installed. You may have had ProVision installed on
the server under 4.0, or on the PC running it.

If you compile it into a .R file (on a PC with a PV license) it can be run
any PC with the Progress client installed.
