V6.1 Quality Freezing Production

Thanks, Mark, and Kersten -

I had thought of un-releasing the job, but that would require an
Engineer, not an Inspector, which just adds more confusion (at least,
for our people). Mark's idea to change First Article requirements is
similar to an idea we had, but we'd actually thought of clocking one of
the inspectors in to the operation as "Beginning Setup," which we think
has the desired effect of locking the operation without necessitating
going into the job, un-releasing/un-engineering the part, etc...

Does clocking the Inspector into the operation as "Begin Setup" lock the
process, or only if there are outstanding first-article requirements?
And, when he clocks out of the Setup, will it automatically create a
piece that needs to be inspected and place a line in the Inspection
Processing panel?

Thanks again!

One option would be to set a first article quantity for that job
operation. Once a first article quantity is set, the operator can not do
anything on the operation until the first article quantity has been
approved

I have had the same question. The only easy answer I came up with is to
unrelease the job.

Is there a feature in Vantage whereby a Quality Inspector can take an
action that, in effect, "freezes" the production of a part, disallowing
further work from being done on that part/operation? Say, for example,
quality notices, in the middle of a production run, a problem which
indicates an issue with the machine or process. Is there some flag or
hold that Quality can enable that will prevent machine operators from
being able to clock-in to that part until Quality releases the hold?

Thanks.
