Vantage Forecast - whos doing it?

I have run into this issue in the past. Several suggestions. You are
creating a significant number of jobs. Look at your MRP job sizes
(increase max lot size, multiple, etc) and planning horizons (days of
supply) to aggregate your results to fewer jobs. Every suggested job
creates it's own MOM (method of manufacture). Depending on how
detailed your MOM's are you are creating a lot of data. Worse yet,
when you re-run MRP, it has to delete all of the jobs which you have
not firmed up. Deleting takes almost as much time as creating, since
it has delete the MOM data one job at time. We ended running this on
the weekend initially until we got job sizes under control. We had
not problem importing customer drive forecasts.
Is anyone else out there using this functionality? Importation of data
is fairly straight forward from a csv. Looking out four months with
the customer provided data results in approximately 3,900 MRP suggested
jobs. Needless to say that brings MRP to a crawl. Whats your
experience to speed the MRP process up? We do like the data we see,
but if MRP is running, we arent looking at PO suggestions, and firming
jobs isnt necessarily the best idea ever. We have seen anywhere from 9
to 14 hours, net change or regen, backwards infinite,no material
constraints. We are also poised to go finite backwards with a horizon
of 45 days, at this point were unsure due to the time it takes in
infinite mode.
