Vantage.ini file

A Client install rewrites the VTG files in the Vantage directory on the
server. If they have been edited (like ours) then copy them to a safe
place and after a client install copy them back.

Yes ihave the same problem. i also triedwhat you
did. no luck. Just have to
remember to add that custom reference to the ini
file every time you install
 a client.

 Rick,
I don't know about ver 3. but in ver 4 were time I
install a new Client the
vantage.ini file needs to have the reference to the
custom directory put
back in. I tried making it read only...I can't
remember why.. but it didn't
 work

We are on 3.00.632 and just recently added some
custom programming. About
every other day the path to our custom directory
disappears from the propath
statement in the vantage.ini file. First I was
wondering what is changing
this file on a regular basis and second, can I make
it a read-only file
 without suffering any evil consequences.

 Thanks,

 Rick

I have had the same problem.

You can solve it by making it read only.... but you have to make
allowances for the "Report Builder.vtg" file (which needs write access
to the ini file). So what I did was to copy the vantage.ini file to
vantage2.ini, make the vantage.ini file read only, and edit the "Report
Builder.vtg" file to point to vantage2.ini.
