Vantage vs Epicor 9 Accounting

Glad to help someone in return for all the help I've received from the group. If you get stuck let me know. I could send you some screenshots of our setup. Have a good weekend!

In Vantage, as I recall from memory, you could set up a Reference Category.  It was like a sub ledger where you could set up a list of values lets say for Car Expense and then in the reference Category you could list the different cars.
This was nice because you didn't have to set up a separate GL account but, then could run a report the list of cars and what it cost.

Is there anyway to do this in Epicor 9?
Yes there is. We use it for vehicles, machines, buildings, etc. Ours were brought over in conversion from Vantage 8.03.409A.  There's a dynamic segment in Epicor9 (found under Chart of Accounts in GL setup); ours is called GL Reference Type. Under GL COA Reference Type (found in GL setup) are the different types such as Automobiles, Machines & Equipment, Buildings; these tie to GL Control Codes. The individual vehicles, machines, etc. are found under Account Segment Values (found in GL setup).

Thank you very much for the info –

Since we don’t have anything setup – I am looking through the GL manual.
