8.03.305 to 8.03.400

Toby,

The big question is where are you going to install 400? If you are planning on installing on the same server, there are a number of steps you have to go through. Installing on a separate test box is recommended.

Assuming you are using Progress you will do the following on a new box:

Install OpenEdge 10.1b
Install .NET 3.0 or higher
Install Epicor software
Install new clients - make sure to put this in client400 and not client803 on the workstations.

Installing on the same server you have to change ports around and make sure you don't get the directories mixed up. 8.03.400 installs in the SAME directory as 305 and uses the same connection ports, so if you are not careful, you can overwrite your production data...this is no where documented in the install guide, but rather, gained through experience.

Hope this helps.

Besides upgrading Vantage, you will probably need to upgrade Progress databse as well... at least that is what we are looking at. I have been advised that it can be cumbersome and Epicor is available to assist remotely instead of on site and the expenses associated with that.

Sincerely

Stephen
