Changing system date loses the server - Help!

I suspect it may be due to the time difference with the domain controller or AD server. I had a similar issue this last week where a server crashed and went out for repair and when it returned users could not connect to the database for Paychex (payroll service). The DB was on the sick server. I had to run a Net Time /Set (or something like that) command on the sick server to force its time to be the same as the AD server and then everything worked OK. For purposes of your year end you may need to set the entire domain (or at least the controller) and then synch to that.

On the other hand...I am not a DB expert but I always get a little concerned about setting the time forward or backward for fear of getting the file system confused when you set it back to "real" time/date. Things like modified dates or time stamps in the future so any internal calculations of elapsed time could look negative. It's not nice to fool Mother nature.

Good luck,
-Todd C.

Subject: [Vantage] Changing system date loses the server - Help!

We're trying to close out our year end, and we have some shipments that
will go next week, but there'll be no other activity in the system. So,
we've pre-dated the shipments, and setup invoicing and posting so we can
run our year end - but run it today.

So, we set the date on the server that Vantage sits on to 12/31/06, and
when we do that, and we try to open Vantage, we can't find Vantage.
Does anyone know if the server can do that if it's out of sinc with the
domain server, or what could be causing this?

It's late, so Epicor is closed, and we're trying to do this tonight or
tomorrow - thanks in advance if anyone is around!!!!
