Default printer and Terminal Services

Your licenses are monitored by the Terminal Server not the local machine
where you install the client, it simply keeps a running total of connections
and will not allow connections beyond the number you are licensed for. It is
a swap of client I did not bother to uninstall the old client. I deleted the
TS icon from a users desktop, ran the new msrdpcli.exe file to install the
new client software. You then find the connection wizard under
start/programs/accessories/communications/remote desktop connection, click
on the options box, enter the Terminal Server IP Address and save as to the
users desktop

John,

Has this been an uninstall - reinstall process or over the top of an
existing client install? Do you know if a reinstall of the client will
cost you a Terminal Server client license?

Here's a trick I've used in the past with Win2k TS. Log in as a user ,
add
the printer as the default printer. Change the profile to a mandatory
profile and then point the TS login to this profile in the users
account.
Iused to det up whole departments using the same printer off of a
single
mandatory profile.

I have the same issue, what it appears is that it's a case of printer
tag. Who's ever last to grab it then that's where the default ends up.
I kept having my edi docs wind up on the production printers. They
wouldn't know what they were, didn't bother to ask and pitch them.
Finally, I just removed everything but the one where I wanted things to
come out. I would imagine that this is "By Design" and considered a

Shirley,

I am hoping somebody else out there had a better suggestion than this
(because I am dealing with the same problem as you), but you can throw
this in a scheduled job to reset the default printer to the one you
want:

rundll32 printui.dll PrintUIEntry /y /n "\\SERVER\PRINTERNAME"

We had all sorts of issues with printing until we changed to the new
Terminal Services Client available from Microsoft at

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/rdclientdl.asp

Still have an occasional problem but a great improvement on the client
shipped with TS.

Finally, I just removed everything but the one where I wanted things to
come out. I would imagine that this is "By Design" and considered a
feature by MicroDuh.

OT point of interest. The word -- MCJOB - "a job requiring little
skill, paying low wages, with little prospect for advancement" is an
official word of the English language.

Our purchasing guy has a problem with his printer/workstation. Every
day when he comes in he has to reset the default printer in terminal
services. Works fine all day until he logs off at night. When he
comes in in the morning and brings up terminal server another printer
is set as the default printer.

Any ideas?

Gear hub.
