Good Morning,
Does anyone know if there is a setting (besides popup blocker) in Chrome that would prevent reports from opening using the Print Preview feature in the web browser? see screenshot below. We try to preview PDFs/CSVs and for some users the reports pop right up and for some users it does not.
For the users where it doesn’t work, they then log into Epicor using the installed version (not web version) and all the reports immediately all pop up up at the same time. Clearly is some settong in Chrome that allows it to work for some users and not for others? Any ideas?
I think the web version relies on the the Edge Client to be properly installed. For those where the printing works, do you see the Kinetic icon in the notification area?
The .NET client starts the System Monitor which is what polls for reports and the Edge client provides similar funtionality.
Your Windows Notification area (generally) in the lower right hand side of your screen by the date and time. The same place your see the Epicor System Monitor for the .NET Client (lavender). The Edge client is circled in white.
The Kinetic Installation Guide explains how to install the Edge Client.
The Edge Agent is not required for viewing PDF documents while using the Browser Client.
The Edge Agent is used in two modes - Edge Agent as Browser Plug-in and Edge Agent as a Network Print Service. As a Browser Plug-in, the Edge Agent is used for headless printing via the Browser connection to Printers attached to the Browser Client. This mode is available to both Cloud and On-Prem systems.
The Edge Agent as a Network Print Service is a separate installation and facilitates headless printing - without a Browser Client or Smart Client connection. This mode of the Edge Agent is only available to the Epicor Cloud customers and is designed as the Cloud version of the On-Prem server based printers.
Peter’s issue of some users not being able to View a PDF, is likely related to the Browser Settings. Different Browsers have different options and some may require that a PDF viewer is registered with Windows for files with PDF as the file extension.
The Chrome PDF viewing option: While in Chrome, Click the Overflow menu (3 vertical dots top right) > Settings > Privacy and Security > Additional content settings > PDF documents.
