Has anyone found the root cause to the OCX error? We have 2 new 2k3
servers w/ Citrix (using the publish apps in Presentation Server 3.0,
and administered with AD groups) and receive this error monthly to bi-
monthly. With new users being added to the servers it increases our
probability of getting the error everyday (right now we are at around
75 concurrent users).
Now in the past the problem either had been self correcting, meaning
it resolved itself after a cycle of errors, or needed a restart.
Yesterday we received OCX errors to the point everyone was dead in
the water, every time a user attempted to navigate in the tree
structure they would receive the cycle of errors. After a reboot the
system was still non-functional. So we made our typical call to
Vantage, and to no avail got the same run around about installing the
MS patch, which by the way applies to 2k servers, not 2k3 servers! No
way would I run a patch that would replace system files with older
versions. To me, they place the blame in TS and Citrix, which i find
is a cop out. If enough people are getting this error, why do they
certify that their product will work in this type of environment?
Anyways, we found a temporary solution to this problem. Place the AD
vantage group into the local admin group on the servers. This isn't
the secure way to do it, but it got our system working.
Anyone who wants to share their experiences or solutions can contact
me by email: brandon.mcnamara@...
