I'm installing Epicor 9.05.601b from version 9.04.506c.
I can't get the Admin Service OpenEdge 10.2A to run as a Service. I keep getting the following message when I try to start it manually.
'The Admin Service for OpenEdge 10.2A service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs.'
The server version I'm doing the installation on is Windows 2008 R2 64bit.
Here are the steps I've take on the server.
Remove the previous version 9.04
1. Removed Progress 9.04 and OpenEdge 10.1c. Rebooted.
2. Unistalled Crystal Reports runtime XI R2 runtime.
3. Unistalled Epicor 9.04 client. Rebooted.
Install 9.05 (all opnededge and epicor software is 32bit)
1. Install Crytsal 2008 runtime.
2. Install Openedge 10.2a (reboot).
3. Once server started stopped OpenEdge service.
4. Install OpenEdge 10.2a SP3 (reboot).
5. Once server started stopped OpenEdge service.
6. Installed OpenEdge 10.2a hotfix 9 (reboot).
7. On startup OpenEdge service is running fine.
8. Install Epicor 9.05 server software (reboot).
9. On startup OpenEdge service is running fine.
10. Install Epicor 9.05.601 Service Pack.
11. Install Epicor 9.05.601b Patch (reboot).
12. On startup OpenEdge Admin Service fails to start.
Has anyone else came across this yet?

This is a "known" issue with OpenEdge.

The updates install, the conversions finish but no matter what my appservers just wouldn't start. They start and then stop almost immediately, with no useful logging of any sort. I tried installing and reinstalling .601 and .601a a few different ways and none of them will allow the appservers to start. As a test, I rolled back my OpenEdge back to SP2 and sure enough now I can run 601a.
