[ot] citrix & / or 2k3 terminal services

Citrix allows you to publish applications, as well as load balancing.
I have 4 Citrix servers in a farm, and publish Vantage as an
application. The user loads are distributed evenly across the 4
servers. If one of the Citrix servers go down, or if I take one down
for maintenance, the remaining 3 servers can handle the load.

With application publishing, the end users only have an icon on their
desktop for Vantage. They can't tell the difference from any local
application.

Also, the ICA protocol is quite a bit "thinner".

Bruce, if you're running a 2003 AD domain implementing Server 2003 with
TS is fairly painless. Citrix is simply for presentation in my opinion.
With AD you can use Group Policy Management to customize the appearance
of the desktop your users will see when they logon to the TS. I've had
a 2003 Server w/TS for about 6 months and it's been rock solid. If you
have any questions feel free to contact me off-line.

We have recently made the decision to implement terminal server 2k3 in
conjunction with Citrix server. With the postings I have read recently,
it sounds like a lot of you are swaying away from Citrix and simply
implementing 2K3 terminal services. I would like to see if I could get
some kind of consensus as to what the group's recommendation on this
would be.

The main reason I have decided to go with Citrix is because of the lack
of administrative information I get from our current installation of Win
2K terminal services.

Thank you,
