Thanks Patty.

Much appreciated (and a bit of relief!)

Capture did not change the System ABC Code.
And I have not found any ChgLogs that were a change, but rather new PartPlant records. So at this point...it is a bit of an unknown. We have someone comparing daily and still nothing has turned up. But once it does...I will let this group know if there is something funky going on.

So we really hate Vantage Cycle Count Process. Additionally, this is
not part of E9...UGH! Ok...I am off that soapbox.

My issue is the System ABC Codes are changing and I cannot determine
how or why.

It is my understanding the Calculate ABC Code process should be the
only process that updates the System ABC Code. However, I am
suspicious of the Cost Capture.

We have circumvented the system and made the System ABC Code
available for us to manually override/set. Therefore when we run
Cycle Count, we know what Parts it should be pulling.

Since we upgraded from 8.03.404B to 8.03.405, we have noticed the
System ABC Codes are changing. We are not running the Calculate (no
one has access to it) and no one is manually changing 5,000 parts at
one time.

Anyone seen this or experienced this kind of thing?

TIA for suggestions

The Cycle Count process changed A LOT in E9. I'd like to hear you speak from
the soapbox. Our complaint is how parts are chosen for a cycle count and I'm
actually working on a BPM Base program to replace the default Epicor 9
behavior.

There's the minimum ABC code on PartPlant record that can affect the ABC
code too. So when you when you do your ChangeLog, remember to check that one
too.

Mark W.
That was my point; you have very limited capabilities in how it
selects parts. Once the Tags are Generated...it is a pretty straight
forard process. The selection process has been a topic at
Perspectives for more than 4 years. You would have thought they had
enough complaints and fixed it with all the enhancments to inventory
on E9...

The last bugger we found is when you limit your selection of parts by
25. It finds the right 25 parts (based on the ABC Code and Last
Count Date) but brings them into the Count Group Entry by the Part #
not by the ABC Code. If my time is limited and I don't get to the
last 5 items, I could be missing to count A items when I have counted
a D item. I would rather it list the parts by the priority of it
being counted...ABC Code should be the first in the hierarchy, then
Last Counted Date, then list by Part #. Better yet...give me the
option to control that.

Thanks to all for your updates and advice.

Patty,

I suppose you could always modify your tag report to indicate whether the part is A, B or C (giving you the option on focusing on A's when time run short and voiding the rest for another day).

It wouldn't be much of a stretch to write a BAQ that includes the ABC code of parts in in-process count groups... Either view it as a simple BAQ search from Part Tracker or convert it to a dashboard.

Workable ???

Safe bet most know I'm not a fan of Vantage... But I've seen cycle count processes much worse than this one. (Most of them out there leave much to be desired.)

Patty,

What did you discover on this issue?

(Is there a 'ghost in the Vantage machine' changing ABC codes without our knowledge?)
