Is there a way to prevent Production employees that uses MES or Handhelds from logging in into the full version in epicor.
This causes that office employees get kick out from epicor cause there are not enough licenses available (defaultUsers) , currently we are using Epicor 10.1.17
Then the question is why are they going inthere? I mean you could stop them sure… however if they are defying your rules perhaps is a training issue.
An this is where the lack of Management control over people collide with Technology. An on going issue i have seen many places. Management not holding there employees accountable and wanting technology to fix the problem.
Ding ding ding, this isn’t a software issue. There is a perfectly workable software solution which is don’t give them anything but MES shortcuts. If the employee is “working around it” it is not a problem that should be solved by IT it should be solved by slapping their hands
I know this isn’t what you asked I’m sorry it is just frustrating to see this stuff.
The only other thing I can think of is to not allow multiple sessions. It can be a pain if not used to it but we made that change when we went to 9.05 years ago…in the long run…it has worked out fine.
Thank you guys for your input , yeah I guess we are going to do the simple route, remove the icons and educate the people of not messing around with them.
Thanks again for all your input its really helpful.
So is it possible that the users aren’t actually logging into the full version, but maybe there aren’t enough MES licenses so they are taking up enough licenses to start taking up full licenses and causing problems?
Yea there are some really surprising approaches to licensing and fallback / penalties that made a lot of sense in the early 90s when the licensing was written but nowadays is just odd. Maybe not wrong but surprising is not a great experience. There has been a desire to clean up the licensing due to these kinds of tickets sent in that don’t make customers very satisfied. Of course if you make any change in licensing everyone gets mad at you so not sure if/when this will get tackled. If/When this occurs, remember this conversation on why a change was made. I am sure it will make people mad and they will miss the old days of licensing and forget all these oddities.
