Progress Explorer Tool

Have you used the progress explorer tool on a Windows 2000 Pro workstation
sometime since the last time you used it on the NT4 machine? I had an issue
similar to this when we upgraded to 5.1 - tech support helped me resolve it,
and I was CRAZED at the time, so my notes are pretty sketchy. It is
something about opening the explorer tool on a W2K machine. This should be
on eranet or whatever they're calling it right now-or Ben or David at
support should be able to help.

the MMC version is 5.0.1920.2 running on NT4 sp6. The weird thing
is nothing has been installed or updated on the server since the
last time we had to use it (and it worked fine then). We haven't
had the need to actually use it, apart from serving vantage, since
we last copied the database from live to pilot.

Thanks for your input.

"The selected file is not a microsoft management console document"

On the clients I get the error message.

Which OS and version of MMC are you running? You might try downloading an
updated MMC from micros$$t (1.2 or higher).

We had this problem as well. It has to do with the configuration of MMC not
being compatible with NT. Check article 1708MPS in Epicor's knowledgebase
for how to fix it.

Thanks Brian.

I'd just got a response from Epicor on the subject. The document
isn't very clear as to why it happend but we managed to piece
together the puzzle of why. We've recently had an XP Pro PC
installed with Vantage and it seems what the knowledge base article
was talking about was if you install a Win 2k pro or XP client it'll
update the Progress Explorer Tool on the NT server! Fantastic.

Once again thanks for your help.
