With only two data collection licenses I would just put both clients on
UPS's.

Subject: [Vantage] Promon in 4.0
Hi everybody. I have a question re Promon. We have 2 data collection
licenses. The power occasionally goes off on the weekend. When it does
Vantage of course tells them when they try to log back in that they have
reached the max number of users and won't let them login.
I want the Operations Manager to be able to go into Promon and kill that
stalled session so they can get back to collecting their data without having
to wait for Monday morning. But I want to limit his access to the server.
Right now the only way I have of accessing Promon is by logging in to the
Vantage server to click the Promon icon.
I'd like to find out how you guys handle this kind of situation. Is there
an alternative way to maintain server security and still give him access to
Promon? (Should anyone but me really even have access to Promon?) I'm
looking into setting up a unique profile that would give him access to only
Promon when he logs on, but I'm not that good with W2K server yet to know
whether and how this can be done.
Bottom line - I want to maintain the continuity of the Data Collection
without leaving my server wide open. Maybe I'm overlooking a simple
solution. At any rate, thanks in advance for any ideas.
