I am still unable to use Promon remotely.
I have tried telnet, I have tried the V:\prgs91d\bin\_mprshut.exe mfgsys
-N TCP -H vantage -S 6100 shortcut.
I get an error "Shutdown request denied; you do not have the correct
user ID. (547)"
I am going to Perspectives, and I need someone else to be able to run
this program while I am gone.
I don't want to give anyone access to the server. There has to be a way
to use Promon remotely.....
Anyone?
Thanks,
Ben

Since my server is secure within the local network I enabled the telnet
service (prior to enabling ssh).
ssh/telnet from any remote computer on the network including wifi
enabled
Palm Tungsten to the vantage server and run:
D:\epicor\prgrs91d\bin\_mprshut.exe -0 D:\epicor\mfgsys61\db\mfgsys
(your
path may vary)
will start your PROMON.
Option 8 (Shutdown database) will list all current User sessions as usr
and
tty
Identify the orphaned or locked sessions and select option 1 (Disconnect
User)
enter the usr#... repeat until all desired sessions are killed.
I have 40 full user licenses and 55 data collection licenses... server
has
been up for 319 days.

Something
about memory. I have the call # around here somewhere. I just got sick
of
messing with it. I have 3 plants and over 200 connections. I just
reboot.
Besides, it usually happens right before a shift change and we use Data

YES!!!! Every time the power goes out. I have everyone stuck then
trying
to get another license. Promon never lets go. I get "Maximum
Licenses". I
have to physically power down the Vantage server. Most times I have to
reboot our terminal servers because those get all weird as well. If I
don't
power off the server I can still have hung sessions when everything is
back
on-line. I have called Epicor many times and there has never been an
answer.
Also, I use ODBC and can't see my usernames in promon. I use a program
through command window to see everyone's name and PID then go to promon
and
kill them. Extremely, time consuming.

Oh my gosh!!! I wish I had this on Wednesday when our terminal server
performed an unceremonious bugcheck and took a dive knocking everyone
out of
the system. Unfortunately it left them still logged into Vantage and so
when
they logged back in they were greeted with locks on tables they had been
working in. Since I haven't moved the Vantage servers to my new location
yet
I had to remotely walk a network administrator through the process from
the
console. After a comedy of errors (forgotten password, logging into the
wrong server, etc.) I was able to get him connected to do the job.
Unfortunately AGAIN, disconnecting users from the console did NOT work,
I
repeat did NOT work, and I was forced into stopping and restarting the
database to clear everything. Has anyone ever run into this problem?
Thank you for this tidy little script. I can disconnect users remotely
and
hope it works this time.

Thank you Juliet,
I had worked around this with Remote Desktop into the server in the
past.
Now I can do it from the desktop. How great is that. Besides as Todd
said,
now I can distribute an icon to an appropriate backup and that is all
they
need. This is a huge tip. Thank you so much. Aaron Hoyt Vantage
