If you had gone to Perspectives, they basically told us to treat it as
if it were a new install not an upgrade. Examine all of your processes and
prepare a training curriculum, especially in your engineering/quoting areas.
I jumped from 4.0 to 6.0 1.5 years ago. Make sure you have lots of hard disk
space on your new server. My db has grown from 2.7 GB to 5.4 in that time.
It had only grown 300 MB the previous year on 4.0.

We are also going to be upgrading at some point this year.
I have a comment about using version 3 on new equipment.
Epicor said they don't support V3 on anything but NT4
So we got a new server and then................
We had a devil of a time getting a new server to work with NT
It took 2-1/2 days to find drivers that worked with all the equipment.
We have also noticed other odd small things happening (printing) when
trying to run V3 on Win2000 and XP.
In order to clean up some problems, which will only get worse with newer
equipment, it is time for us to make the upgrade leap.
5-1/2 years is long enough between upgrades for us.
We are also considering going directly to version 8.
We have pretty much decided we are going to handle this like a new
install rather than an upgrade.
We want to reevaluate our procedures from the ground up instead of just
updating them.
Good Luck
