Upgrading from PROGRESS TO SQL

It's a pretty big process, but manageable with the right assistance.

I have completed several of these and the problems have varied each time.
Usually there are field size problems, index key problems and other random
things. The learning curve was kind of rough and annoying, but after getting
several done it's much smoother from my point of view.

One thing you should keep in mind if you ever decide to make the change, do
it separate from an upgrade, it makes it easier to separate out the cause of
any errors, easier to figure out if it's just an upgrade problem or an SQL
conversion problem instead of sorting both out at the same time.

Estimated time is usually 48 hours for an initial conversion to spend time
sorting out all the problems of the SQL conversion, and then any interim
ones are usually much less time because the issues are usually all sorted
out in the initial conversion and it's just running through the process.

Subject: [Vantage] Upgrading from PROGRESS TO SQL

Hi Everyone. We are in the process of implementing E9. We have started
the implementation using Progress. Say 5 years from now, we decide we
would want to go the SQL, does anyone know what the data conversion would be
like?

I would think using the Invoice Header, Invoice Detail and Ship Header and
Ship Detail should get you the information (your lots are on the shipments -
correct?)

I'm not a programmer, but can do simple BAQ's, or so I thought. I'm trying
to run a BAQ that will tell me what invoice is associated with each lot
number, but I haven't been able to find the correct way to link the tables
they are in...anyone have a suggestion--or better yet, an answer? Would be
appreciated.
