How to change Epicor User ID and Security Group Code

Wonder if anyone can advice best practice to change the User ID and Security Group Code?

Due to the change of Epicor Login to align with the Windows login ID, there is a need to change existing user login name.

Having tried to create a new Epicor Login ID with the same setting as existing ID in the User Maintenance Menu but realizes there are some implication using this approach:

  1. User specific preference settings will need to manually configure at user end.
  2. Some menu that specific user has accessed to need to be added (Meaning the need to run through all the Menu in the Menu Maintenance.
  3. May miss-out other settings that I am not even aware of.

Wonder if there is any way to edit the User ID as it’s Grey off. Assuming there is no need to worry about all the existing setting and Menu access.

Another challenge is there is a need to revamp the Security Group and it’s naming.

While Description can be renamed easily, the Group Code is Grey off and not able to rename to give a meaningful code name.

Again, if the only way is to create a new one, then there is a need to go through all the menu that has this security group to be added. This is not only tedious but also prone to error.

It will be excellent if the Group Code can be modified and reflected in the menu with the modified code name.

Appreciate any advice.

I would ask Epicor if they have a data fix for this. Input a ticket to support and see what they say.

Thanks John. Have submitted a ticket for this.

same question, any results?

Below is the response from support:

“Regarding the issue reported in this case, as both User ID and Security Group code could not be changed once it has been created, you would need to create a new ID/code for the desire value.
Besides that, the function to copy all the details from existing User ID/Security Group Code to the new code are not available, therefore you would need to define or assign the related options/access for the new User ID/Security Group code.”
