Is there another way that links a job to serial number? I have removed the job in Serial Number maintenance in the past and been able to clean up jobs that had erroneous serial number references. However, today I am unable to close a job that has a reference to a serial number. I’ve cleared the job field in Serial Number maintenance. There are no serial numbers showing in Serial Number Assignment. But the link in Serial Numbers tab in Job Tracker still shows our serial number. Where is that coming from?
I found blanking out the assembly on the serial number table did the trick.
It allows it to reappear on Serial Num Assignment.
Let me know if it works for you.
My assembly was already 0. I tried to delete it (blank it out) in the UI but it goes back to 0. Is that what you mean? Or did you mean something else?
Side note: you can’t edit the assembly if the job is blank.
My issue here is that this job was processed all the way to completion. We ended up not shipping it because our customer cancelled the order. We then disassembled it and put the subcomponents back in stock. So my solution was to do a job adjustment and un-complete the operations and let the materials un-backflush. All of that seemed to work fine. However, what it left me was one transaction that referenced the serial number when it was getting reported and I can’t get rid of that.
Then I tried to add a demand link to stock so it will require 1 SN and then maybe let me close it. But even then, it says 0 SNs are required but 1 is assigned.
Hi Dan,
We have gotten stuck unable to close jobs due to serial number anomalies on occasion. First we try clearing job data like you did and perhaps setting the sn status to adjusted and try and close. When that fails, off hours, switch the part to not serial tracked, close the job, then switch it back on. Ugly, but sometimes you just need to get er done.

Ooooo that’s a good idea. Most of these ones I’m dealing with are not normally stocked so that should make it easier - hopefully. I’ll try it in Pilot and if it works, I might just do that tonight after hours.
